FAQ

How is it done?
The process does not use moulds, your child's print is taken straight into the precious metal clay which when fired becomes your jewellery item. The detail and shape of your finished charm will be the same as the item you see being created at the time of ordering.

Can items be engraved?
Items can be engraved with the child's name either on the front or back of the piece along with a short message depending on the size of the item. There is no extra charge for this.

Is there an age limit?
There is no age limit, I have done prints from babies of 8 weeks through to adults of 48 and older. Generally though at about 16 weeks old babies fingerprints are more clearly discernable than in new borns. By taking the print straight into the silver clay you are able to see straight away what the piece will look like. Also you know that the child has actually touched that piece, as opposed to taking a cast of the fingerprint and using it to stamp out pieces.

Are the pieces really silver?
Absolutely, the items are created using Precious Metal Clay. When the pieces are fired the binder in the clay burns out leaving 99.9% fine silver. This is a purer form than sterling silver which contains a mixture of other metals and alloys. All Necklace and Bracelet chains that I supply are however sterling silver.

Who makes my item of jewellery?
All items are handcrafted, finished and polished by myself. I take pride in completing each item individually.

Will the jewellery tarnish?
All silver can tarnish and this process is speeded up by exposure to humidity, perfumes and make up products. However light tarnish can quickly and easily be removed with a quick polish from a silver cloth (readily available to purchase from retail outlets)
